Robert A. “Bob” Gulish, 67, of Harmony Twp., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 21, 2018, following complications from kidney failure. He was the son of the late Peter and Irene (Walko) Gulish. He is survived by his wife, Tina (Kouvaras) Gulish; his children, Chad Bartlett, Washington, D.C.; Bob (Allyson) Gulish Jr., Ambridge, and Brandon (Sarah) Gulish, Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jadyn, Eli, Norris, Demi and Hattie; sister, Patricia (Rick) Antolic, Baden; brother, John Gulish, Aliquippa, and many nieces and nephews. John J. Slappo Jr., of Economy Borough, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018, in his childhood home. Johnny, as everyone knew him, was a creative, deeply sensitive man. He loved all creatures of nature on this earth and lived his life that way by spending hours in the woods, gardening and making time to just listen to the world around him. His ability to create artistic drawings and write poetry was known by few. He loved and understood the relationship of our world and felt a connection to everything natural. He served our country as a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He retired from J&L Steel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wilfong Slappo; son, Chad Slappo; parents, Mary (Bachor) and John Slappo Sr.; sister, Antoinette Slappo Bader; and brother, Ernest Slappo. He is survived by his sons, David (Candy) Slappo and Jonathan (Dori) Slappo; grandchildren, Austin, David, Taylor, and Alexandra; brothers, Gerald (Roxeen) Slappo, Harry (Lynn) Slappo, and Richard Slappo; and sisters, Mary Rose (William) Slezak, Joanne (Joseph) Mattie, Elizabeth Cipolla, and Frances Ciamacco. Frank Tavern Jr. Baden Frank Tavern Jr., 74, of Baden, passed away June 22, 2018, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Frank Tavern Sr., and Marion Pietrandrea Tavern of Koppel. He graduated from Ellwood City High School and Youngstown State College. He taught Health and coached football at the North Babylon School in Long Island, New York. Frank then began his long career in law enforcement, first starting as a Beaver County detective before being hired by Baden Borough Police Department. He became Assistant Chief and later Chief of Police and retired after 27 years of service. He initiated finger printing at State Street Elementary School and he aided in designing the shoulder patch that the Baden Borough Police Officers still wear today. He donated his time with the Beaver County Chiefs of Police to qualify police officers in firearm training and qualifications. He taught at Penn State Beaver and IUP University for the police academy. He was a member of the Baden American Legion Post 641, and served with the US Army 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam. He was life member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and was an avid hunter, golfer, and bowler. He is preceded in death by his sister, Diane Obermeier He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dee Tavern; a son, Frank Tavern III and his wife, Amber Harris, Conway; three grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Nick, Connor and Ryley; one brother, Pat Tavern, Beaver Falls, and one sister, Mary Jane Novotny and her husband, Don, Huron, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews and loving friends. Friends will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the KASPER-HAHN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 547 Eighth St., Ambridge, (724-266-2549), where a service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Beaver County Special Unit will be providing full military honors. Bruce W. Wolf Economy Borough Bruce W. Wolf, 62, of Economy Borough, passed away on March 26, 2018, after a brief illness. He was the son of Norman J. Wolf and Rhea Gregorek. He worked many years as a machine operator with both J&L and Vincent Metal Goods. He held two master’s degrees in Pastoral Counseling, where he counseled inmates at the Beaver County Jail. He taught C.C.D. at Good Samaritan Parish, Ambridge. He was an avid outdoorsman, skillful craftsman, and a fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Stephen Gregorek. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Karen (Gazda) Wolf; four children, Dan (Renee) Wolf, Mike (Rachel) Wolf, Patti (Rick) Crusciel and Bob (Kelly) Wolf; seven grandchildren, Vinni, Samantha, Mikayla, Logan, Alyssa, Lucas and Angel; one brother, Alan (Ruth) Wolf, and many nieces and nephews.
