Born December 21, 1915 in Lipsos, Greece, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Harry Economos; her parents, John and Kaliope (Koumonduras) Kalandros; brothers, John and George Kalandros, and sisters, Anna and Mary.
Beloved mother of Clara (Lajos) Kaldi, Lorraine Economos, Zachery Economos and Joanne Cottage, she was the grandmother of Sherry Oslick, Erik Kaldi, Mark (Michele) Kaldi, Marie (Andrew) Manos, Zachery (Jaimie) Economos, ReNie (Darryl) Jones and Donald (Alison) Cokus Jr., and great-grandmother of James, Michael, Niko, Ellora, Pete, Elias, Christian, Melina and Angelo.
Irene was passionate about cooking for her family, Greek dancing and playing Bingo. For over 70 years, Sunday brunch at her home in Ambridge was a family tradition that spanned four generations. Her traditional Greek cooking style and secret family recipes have been passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a proud member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ambridge, and the Ladies Philoptochos.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the KASPER-HAHN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 547 Eighth St., Ambridge, (724-266-2549), with a Paraskas service Thursday 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held Friday 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Beaver Road. Please meet at church. Burial will be in Economy Cemetery.
