John Slappo Jr
John J. Slappo Jr., of Economy Borough, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018, in his childhood home. Johnny, as everyone knew him, was a creative, deeply sensitive man. He loved all creatures of nature on this earth and lived his life that way by spending hours in the woods, gardening and making time to just listen to the world around him. His ability to create artistic drawings and write poetry was known by few. He loved and understood the relationship of our world and felt a connection to everything natural. He served our country as a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He retired from J&L Steel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Wilfong Slappo; son, Chad Slappo; parents, Mary (Bachor) and John Slappo Sr.; sister, Antoinette Slappo Bader; and brother, Ernest Slappo. He is survived by his sons, David (Candy) Slappo and Jonathan (Dori) Slappo; grandchildren, Austin, David, Taylor, and Alexandra; brothers, Gerald (Roxeen) Slappo, Harry (Lynn) Slappo, and Richard Slappo; and sisters, Mary Rose (William) Slezak, Joanne (Joseph) Mattie, Elizabeth Cipolla, and Frances Ciamacco. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the KASPER-HAHN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 547 Eighth Street, Ambridge, (724-266-2549). Blessing service Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Burial in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date. Contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd like to share some real hope with you. In Psalms 146:4 tells the condition of the dead. "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to the earth and that very day his thoughts perish." In Acts 24:15 the bible promises a resurrection of our loved ones back to earth. When Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead, he brought him back to earth. He's going to do that on a much larger scale in the future. In Psalms 37:11+29 says man will live forever on the earth in peace. That was God's original purpose, for man to live forever in the garden of eden. God's purpose hasn't changed. That's why he gave his son to die for us, John 3:16, so we could have everlasting life. In Revelation 21:4 says there'll be no more pain or death. Since there's no pain or death in heaven, those are future conditions on earth under God's kingdom arrangement. JW.org
