Walter Szymoniak Baden Walter Szymoniak, 96, of Baden, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was the son of the late Alexander and Rose Szymoniak. Beloved husband of Betty I. Szymoniak; father of Walter Szymoniak Jr. of Pittsburgh, Ronald Szymoniak of Baden and Rose Pavlovich of Hopewell; stepfather of William S. (Cheryl) Niehenke of York, Pa.; also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Walter was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and served in C.C. Camp. He worked for HH Robinson for 40 years. He was a member of Baden United Methodist Church; Ambridge American Legion; and Ambridge Sportsman’s Club. Walter loved the outdoors. Martha Piontek Ambridge Martha Piontek, 69, Ambridge, passed away on Saturday, December, 21, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Felix and Victoria Piontek. Martha was a lifelong resident of Ambridge, an English Teacher at Ambridge High School for 40 years; the original Softball Coach in Ambridge; President of AAEA for two years; member of the Ambridge Rotary Club and THE ACTIVE MEMBER of Good Samaritan Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Brian Balsomico. She was the beloved sister of Frances (Richard) Balsomico of Shaler Twp., Walter (Cindy) Piontek of New Brighton and Loriane (late Ed) Hahn of New Brighton; loving aunt of Jason (April) Balsomico of Shaler Twp. and Steven (Yasuko) Balsomico of Shaler Twp.; great aunt of Anthony, Logan, Elvis and R.J.; special friend of Cindy Deschaine, Rose Curcio, Chris Patsch, Kathy Wozniak, Stasha Kaye, the Ziemkiewicz Family, and the Keele Family, especially Taft and Holt; also many loving friends and cousins. (Whitey) Mikush, III, lifetime resident of Harmony Township, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, December 13, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, at the age of 73. He was born in Sewickley on March 10, 1945, to the late Andrew R. and Helen (Persuitte) Mikush. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend to all. Survived by daughters, Andrea (husband Heinz) Werle and Antoinette (husband Matt) Diulus; brother, Robert (Janet) Mikush; sister, Roberta Mikush Sciulli (husband Dave Carlson); beloved uncle to Bob (wife Laura) Mikush, Bryan (wife Cindy) Mikush, Justin (wife Deanna) Sciulli, Luke Sciulli and Katie Carlson; and great-uncle to Ryan Mikush and Amanda Mikush. A 1963 graduate of Ambridge High School, Whitey worked for 38 years in the family business Mikush Appliance. Due to his pleasant demeanor and skill, many customers specifically requested him. Active in the community, Whitey was a long-time member of the Ambridge Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Ambridge Rotary Club (1988-90) and was named Rotarian of the Year in 2008 and received the Rotary Foundation International Paul Harris Fellow Award Certificate of Honor in 2015. He was also a board member of the New Alliance Federal Credit Union in Ambridge. He enjoyed working on cars and riding motorcycles with his many friends, launching fireworks at community events as part of the Zambelli team and was a fixture at the funnel cake booth on behalf of the Rotary Club. He loved to cook and share his creations with family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16th from 2 to 8 p.m. at KASPER-HAHN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 547 Eighth Street, Ambridge, (724-266-2549), followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 17th at Good Samaritan Church, 8th Avenue, Ambridge. Interment will follow at Sewickley Cemetery. The family wishes to specifically thank his caregivers, Betsy Hall and Barry Howe and friends Barb Critchfield and Judy Pugar for their loving care and support and the Kasper-Hahn Funeral Home for handling the arrangements. Eleanor (Wesolowski) Soltis Economy Borough Eleanor (Wesolowski) Soltis, 86, of Economy Borough, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Soltis; sister, Dorothy; brother, Stephen and a grandson, Nicholas Soltis. Eleanor is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Roxanne) Soltis of Baden; daughter, Shelly (Greg) Sproul of Daugherty Twp.; two grandchildren, Chada (Max) Fallcker and Emma Sproul; two great grandchildren, Eli and Serena Fallcker; sister, Helen Gazda of Baden and Joe Wesolowski of Riverside, Calif.
