Ambridge - 54, passed away on May 26, 2021 at Heritage Valley Sewickley. He was the son of the late Emily P. and Peter G. Banes. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Polixeni Kouvaras. Surviving are his siblings, George P. Banes and Lori (Vasilis) Kontoulis, nieces, Evyennia and Amalia Kontoulis, nephews, Yiorgo Kontoulis, Dimitri and
Christo Kouvaras. John was a graduate of Ambridge Area High school. He was a caring and loving person who loved his family and was loved by all that knew him. Friends will be received on Thursday , June 3, 2021, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge, a Trisagion service will take place at 5:00 pm, additional visitation will take place Friday, June 4, 2021, from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 12:00 pm officiated by Father Anastasios Athanasiou. Elwood City, formerly of Baden - 53, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 due to complications to Muscular Dystrophy. He was the son of George and Nadine Cirka. George graduated from Ambridge Area High School in 1985. He was a graduate of Pitt-Johnston campus and Edinboro University earning degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Education. George was catholic by faith. He was employed for many years as an instrumentation engineer for Verichek Technical Services in Bethel Park, PA. In addition to his is parents he is survived by his brothers Ronald (Jennifer Chalupiak) Cirka and Kenneth Cirka, DMD, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and college friends. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Kasper Chapel of the Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th St., Ambridge, 724-266-2549. A Pananachida Blessing will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Baden - 87, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Leetsdale, he was the son of the late John and Clara Besong. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by ten siblings, Jack, Lila, Dorothy, William, Paul, James,Thomas, Alvin, Raymond, and Charlie. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lottie (Hryckowian) Besong, four children, Robert (Bonnie) Besong, Michael Besong , Charlene (Joseph) Krokonko, Michelle (Thomas) Fetkovich, nine grandchildren, Shawn (Devan), Craig, Jenna (Dylan), Tyler, Kayla, Hannah, Lauryn, Noah, Alex, two great grandchildren, Easton and Brayden, a brother Ronald Besong, in-laws, Nita Besong, Ed Brutout, Mike (Barbara) Hryckowian, Elizabeth Hryckowian, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was a proud Vetern of the United States Army. He worked and retired from Sears and Ambridge Area School District. He served on Baden Borough Council recently receiving a commendation for over 40 years of service to his community. His greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved spending summers protecting his back yard oasis where he entertained family and friends for years. He enjoyed making memories hunting and fishing at his camp. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2 pm to 8 pm, in the Kasper Chapel of Alvarez Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation , LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge, 724-266-2549. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, at Good Samaritan Church, Ambridge. Interment will follow at Good Samaritan Cemetery, Fair Oaks. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice, especially his nurses Joyce and Lauren, for there compassion and exceptional care.
Martin, "Marty" Uhernik of Baden - 65, passed away on May 1, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis "Flash" and Veronica Uhernik, In addition to his parents he was was preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Paul and Jean Garltiz. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen (Garlitz) Uhernik, his children, Krista (Brian) Uhernik, Kara (Pat) Uhernik, Luke (Cloe) Uhernik, Devoted "PA PA" of Cameron, Kaylee, Kelsee, Dominik, and Aurora, sister, Franny Uhernik, Brother-in-law, David Garltiz, Tom (Debbie) Garltiz. Marty retired from B.A.C. Local 9, Pittsburgh. He belonged to the Baden American Legion Post 641, and was a member of the Sons of the Legion. He was an avid Pittsburgh sport fans, loved Nascar, and fishing. Friends will be received Tuesday, from 2-6 pm, in the Kasper-Hahn Funeral and Cremation Service, 547 8th Street, Ambridge, 724-266-2549. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Jill McGregor.
